Abhinav and Sehaj Naangal registered identical wins over their rivals in the boys' U-14 first round of the ongoing Sunrise Tennis Academy Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship being played at the Chandigarh Club complex, Sector 1.
Abhinav outclassed Chirag Malhotra while Sehaj defeated Karan 6-1 6-1 in their respective matches.
In another lop-sided battle, Karan Sandhilya beat Yashvui 6-1 6-3. Parth, meanwhile, overpowered Aarav 6-1 6-1.
In the boys' U-16 section, Nishank Thakur registered an impressive win over Gurjosh Singh. Nishank lost the first set 5-6 but raised his game to win the next two sets 6-4 6-3.
In other matches of the day, Sehaj Punj beat Karthik 6-2 6-4 while Nikhil overwhelmed Pranay 6-2 6-0.
In the girls' U-14 category, Snighda defeated Radhika 7-5 7-6(4). Mehar struggled hard before beating Ojas Jain 6-2 2-6 6-1 while Kiran overcame Prachi 6-3 4-6 6-2.
Gunjan trounced Arundhati 6-0 6-0 in the main draw opener in the girls' U-16. Shukhmani thumped Prabhjot 6-1 6-0 while Japjot blanked Ojas 6-2 6-1.
Tennis tourney from June 4
Panchkula: The Ideal Tennis Academy will organise a combined junior (U-12 and U-14) championship at Manav Mangal School, Sector 11, from June 4. Interested players should confirm their entries before June 3. — TNS
