Archana, Vishav adjudged best athletes in sports meet

Ludhiana, March 4

Archana, a student of B.Com Part III and Vishav of BBA Part I were adjudged the best athletes among girls and boys, respectively, at the 3rd Annual Athletics Meet of Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College, Hussainpura, today.

Vishav emerged victorious in the 100m sprint and 200m race while Archana came out triumphant in the 200m and 400m races besides the skipping race. She also figured among the top three in other events.

Dr Parminder Singh, Director, Physical Education and Sports, Panjab University, along with Rajinder Bhandari, Vice-Chairman,Punjab Planning Board, declared the meet open.

Prof Manoj Arora, officiating principal of the college, welcomed the chief guest and members of the managing committee. He highlighted the achievements of the students during the current academic session.

Narinder Jain, Avinash Jain and Sanjeev Jain, office-bearers of the college management committee, faculty and students were present on the occasion.

Boys: 100m race- Vishav first, Amandeep Singh second, Surinder third; 200m race- Vishav first, Amandeep Singh second, Himanshu third; 400m race- Prem first, Vishav second and Amandeep Singh third; 1,500m race- Prem first, Happy second and Nitish third; Shot put- Abhishek Jain first, Amitoj Singh second and Nitish third; Long jump- Naveen first, Amandeep Singh second and Kapil Sharma third; Sack race- Amit first, Sakib second and Amandeep Singh third; Discus throw- Amitoj Singh first, Anshuman second and Harpreet Singh third; Javelin throw- Anshuman first, Abhishek second and Yatin Jain third; Three-legged race- Naman Jain and Yain Jain first, Mohit and Ashish second, Relove and Shivam third.

Girls: 100m race- Ruchi first, Archana second, Priyanka third; 200m race- Archana first, Simarjeet Kaur second, Priyanka third; 400m race- Archana first, Sunaina second, Khushboo third; Shot put: Simarjeet Kaur first, Vandana second and Gundeep third; Long jump- Gundeep Kaur first, Ruchi second and Simran Arora third; Sack race: Jyoti first, Archana second and Priyanka third; Discus throw- Simarjeet Kaur first, Sonia second and Sunaina third; Javelin throw- Priyanka Rawat first, Deepika second and Archana third; Spoon race- Simarjeet Kaur first, Sonia second and Ruchika third; Skipping race- Archana first, Priyanka second and Simranjeet third.
