Baichung Bhutia School lads enter semis

Last years’ semifinalist Mohun Bagan SAIL Football Academy was pushed out of the tournament by the Baichung Bhutia School of Football, Delhi, during the ongoing 13th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All-India Football Tournament for boys (U-17) being played at the football stadium, Sector 17, today.

The last league stage match of pool C witnessed a tough fight with both the teams struggling hard to score goals. Bhutia lads played with seven defenders and successfully stopped Mohun Bagan from winning the match by a good margin needed to qualify for the semi finals. Both the teams played goal-less game till the breather.

On the resumption of play, Mohun Bagan lads scored the only goal of the match with striker Rizul Patiyal striking in the 50th minute of game. Mohun Bagan Sail Football Academy despite winning their last match of league stage against Baichung Bhutia School of Football, Delhi, failed to enter semi-final. The side scored 7 points which made them tie with Mahilpur Football Academy. Baichung Bhutia School of Football, Delhi, reached the semi finals on the basis of better goal average.

Pune Football Club will face the Mahilpur Football Academy tomorrow in the first semifinals, at the football stadium, Sector 17. Bengaluru Football Club will face Chandigarh Football Academy in the second semifinals at the Sports Complex, Sector 42.
