City golfer finishes 2nd in junior championship at Jaipur

Chandigarh, May 6

City golfer Aadil Bedi carded a brilliant 66 on the final day of the Rajasthan Junior Golf Championship at the Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur today to finish second in the A category. 

Delhi's Kshitij Naveed Kaul finished at the top with a total card of 276 while another Chandigarh boy, Adilbir Singh, bagged the third position with a final score of 282.

Karandeep Kochar of Chandigarh finished eighth.

Aadil, a Class X student of Vivek High School, Chandigarh, shot five birdies on the final day to finish the championship at 280.

The 15-year-old jumped four places on the last day clinch the second spot.

City golfers Kartik Digvijay Singh, Chinmaya Mahajan, Udaybir Singh, Haramanbir Singh Bajwa were also a part of the competition.

This was Aadil's second match of the season. He had last week finished in the top three at the Golden Greens in Gurgaon.

Aadil will be playing in the junior championship at the Eagleton Golf Resort in Karnataka next month before flying to the US for the World Cup in July. "I consider these matches as warm-up for the World Cup in the USA. The putting session with my coach Jesse Grewal is helping me to shoot sub-par rounds. Putting will be the key in the World Cup and I have made few changes in my game on greens. I am very confident and hopefully will bring a medal for the country in the forthcoming World Cup," a confident Aadil said after the game. — TNS
