Sixteen-year-old Karandeep, a student of St John’s High School, Sector 26, has topped the merit list for the category A, i.e. 15-18 years category. He has earlier topped in B, C and D categories at one point of time. The IGU circuit, consists of 11 matches throughout the year, is still left with two more matches before the end of the season 2015. “I am looking ahead to play in the Eastern India Juniors, also the Nick Faldo Series Qualifier and All India Juniors, to be played in Kolkata from November 20 to December 4 to decide the final merit list standings for 2015. Otherwise, my previous competitions of the circuit were equally good and I received a good output to attain the rankings,” Karan stated.

Adding more feather to his cap, Karandeep is also adopted by ONGC India to represent the company in the Oil Company Limited Golf Championship. “It’s a great boost for my career to play in the amateur circuit among seasoned players. ONGC recently added me under their logo to represent their company,” Karandeep said. He trains under greens of the Chandigarh Golf Association and the Chandigarh Golf Club under Jesse Grewal and his physical trainer Sagar Diwan. He is also looking ahead for participating in the USA Juniors’ International Golf Championship to get good opportunities of getting a scholarship abroad. “It will be a crucial trip to the USA for my career. The trip is scheduled to be held in February and before that, I have two more important championships to feature-in,” Karandeep added.
