Cricket body hails decision

The Cricket Association of Haridwar has welcomed the decision taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for announcement of special ad hoc committees for Uttarakhand and Bihar. Cricket aficionados in the state have also welcomed the move.

The committee is being seen as a major step in the realisation of full fledged separate statehood affiliation for Uttarakhand, which has been a long pending demand of cricket players and cricket associations in the state.

Haridwar Cricket Association president Neeraj Kumar and secretary Inder Mohan Barthwal have expressed happiness over the BCCI move terming it good for budding cricketers of Uttarakhand.

“This step will give more exposure and opportunities to young players hailing from Uttarakhand. Earlier, they had to play from other states or affiliated units of the BCCI to take part in the national competitions. IPL star Manish Pandey and U-19 World Cup captain Unmukt Chand are playing for other states,” said Inder Mohan Barthwal.

The BCCI informed that the Uttarakhand Adhoc committee would be headed by MP Pandav with Vishal Marvah as its honorary secretary.Till now, Uttarkahand players either had to take part in Uttar Pradesh domestic league or other state leagues to try for state and national team.

Cricket Association of Haridwar members and cricket lovers MP Sharma, Pavinder Singh, Kamal Bahukhandi, Vikas Goyal, Pradeep Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta, Kaushal Sharma, Shalabh Goyal, Mayank Sharma, Kuldeep Aswal, Kishore Arora, Devendra, Lalit Sachdeva, Anil Khurana, Chandra Mohan, Kamal Chamoli, Kamla Pant, Praveen Giri and Sukhbeer Singh also expressed happiness over the BCCI decision.
