Dehradun boys beat Nainital in basketball

Dehradun, May 20

The Dehradun boys’ team defeated the Nanital district team by 38-11 points in the opening match of the 10th Sub-Junior Under-14 State Basketball Championship ?played at The Doon School on Wednesday.

In the other matches of the tournament in the boys’ category, Mussoorie beat Haridwar team by 58-15 points whereas Nanital beat Haridwar by 28-17 points.

In the matches of the girls’ category, the Dehradun district team thrashed Haridwar team by a huge margin of 43-6 points. Radhika scored the highest 13 points for the Dehradun team.

In another match, Mussoorie beat Haridwar by 40-10 points.

Chetan Chauhan, Atul Wassan to coach young players

Dehradun: Former test cricketers Chetan Chauhan and Atul Wassan along with  Rajkumar Sharma, coach of  Virat Kohli,  will conduct a summer cricket coaching camp at SelaQui International School, Dehradun, in association with West Delhi Cricket Academy from May 25 to June 6. 

The 12 days’ camp will allow young players from all over north India to learn the basics of cricket as well as the modern techniques involved in the game. 

The camp is open for boys and girls in the 9-18 years’ bracket. 

Headmaster  of the school Rashid Sharfuddin said this would give budding cricketers a platform to improve their skills from some of the best in the business. Details of the camp can be obtained from the school office (0135-3051000, 8057902403).
