Differently abled bodybuilder Mohd Usman does city proud

Differently abled bodybuilder Mohd Usman brought laurels to the city after bagging the title of ‘Mr India Fitness Model’ (Patiala Zone) held recently in Patiala. He won thefirst prize in the handicap category of 65 kg.

A professional bodybuilder Usman recently shifted to Chandigarh from Punjab in order to find better prospect for nurturing his career. The 22-year-old polio-affected bodybuilder started practicing bodybuilding a few years ago. He masters at the bench press event of the championship and also participates in two major championships every year. Earlier, he participated in the Mohali region bodybuilding championship and Sangrur region’s bodybuilders’ event, where he attained the second place. “It’s a hard journey so far. However, I am coping up well to maintain a good body. Watching Hollywood movies inspired me to have a good physique. Despite being polio-affected, I started visiting gym and decided to pump iron till I get a desirable body,” Usman stated. He is currently self-employed and spends two to three hours a day in a week at the gym to maintain his body. “My physical disability had restricted me to go all-out, however, my motivation always helped me to encourage myself under the toughest of conditions. I am not preparing for some specific events, but I like to maintain my body,” Usman said.
