Drall tied-second with Kiran on Day 1

Panchkula golfer Amandeep Drall was tied second with Kiran Matharu with a score of a 1-over 73 on the opening day of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Oxford Golf Resort in Pune on Wednesday.

Kiran dropped three shots on the 1st, 3rd and 5th holes with a lone birdie on the 4th hole in her front nine. But she carded two birdies (10th and 15th holes) and dropped a shot on the last hole to end up with 73. 

Amandeep, who is playing after a gap of a month, carded three birdies (2nd, 8th and 17th holes). She dropped four shots (3rd, 4th, 13th and 16th holes) to finish her day at joint second position at 73.

Shweta Galande carded the only even-par round of 72 on the first day to grab the lead. She carded two bogeys (1st and 5th holes) followed by three birdies (6th, 10th and 14th holes) and a dropped shot on the 18th hole. 

Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra was tied fourth with the Delhi duo of Gauri Monga and Mehak Sharma with cards of 74. Smriti’s round included three birdies (4th, 10th and 11th holes) and an equal number of bogeys (1st, 12th, 15th holes). She also carded a double bogey on the 7th hole to finish two shots adrift of the leader. Mehak carded three birdies (1st, 6thand 7th holes).    

However, she failed to sustain the momentum and carded five consecutive bogeys (9th to 13th holes). Gauri’s day included two birdies (2nd and 9th holes) along with four bogeys (5th, 6th, 7th and 16th holes).

Sharmila Nicollet was placed seventh with a score of 3-over 75, followed by Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana and Bengaluru’s Trisha Sunil at tied eighth at 76. 

Chandigarh’s Sanniya Sharma was tied 10th with Mehar Atwal. Sanniya shot two bogeys (2nd and 3rd holes) and a double bogey on the 16th.  Her round included three birdies (9th, 11th, and 17th holes) and an eagle on the 15th hole. 

Kapurthala’s Gursimar Badwal was tied 12th with Vani Kapoor, Pallavi Jain and Neha Tripathi. Gursimar shot five bogeys (5th, 7th, 8th, 12th and 16th holes) and a birdie on the 17th hole.
