Dual win helps Rishab qualify for main draw

Top seed local player Rishab Sharda displayed a perfect blend of experience and hard work to win two tough qualifying matches during the ongoing CLTA-AITA National Ranking Championship for Men and Women Rs 1 Lakh Tennis Tournament being played at the tennis courts of Sector 10 here today.

In the men’s qualifying round, Rishabh Sharda defeated Yashwardhan in a tie breaker 8-7(3) while in the fourth round match Rishabh overpowered Arnav Goel 8-5. Similarly, another local player Sultan Singh Atwal finished high in his fourth and fifth round matches to qualify for the main draw. He defeated Yash Yadav 8-4, while defeated Arvind S 8-5 in the fourth round. Paramveer Bajwa, Mohit Bhardwaj, Vikrant Dahiya, Shrey Gupta, Rohan Punj and top seed Basil Khuma also qualified for the main draw stage.

In the women’s category final round, Baani Singh defeated Neelanchal Gupta and Aporva Rokade overpowered Aayushi Chauhan with identical score of 8-4. Other players, including Samkriti, Ankita Hoon, Himanshika, Prakriti Banwani, Seerat Pannu, Baani Singh, Ishwari Seth and Apurva Rodade also qualified for the main draw. The pre-quarterfinals and quarterfinals (singles) will be played from 8.30 am onwards on Wednesday.
