Golf likely to be next big thing in Patiala

With the Punjab Police, which had recently come up with the Bahadurgarh Greens Golf Club, joining hands with Arjuna Awardee International Golfer Harmeet Kahlon, golf is likely to become the next big thing in Patiala.
The Punjab Police had recently organised the first-ever Patiala Golf Camp to promote the sport in the region. The camp, which was open for all, attracted a large number of participants. The fact that golf had now been included in the Olympics after a gap of after over 100 years also is playing an important role in enhancing the appeal of the game amongst the youngsters.
PS Grewal, IG, Punjab Police, said efforts were being made to tap the young golfers so that they could represent the country in the international events in the future.
He said to encourage the sports in the region, the Punjab Police had come up with the newly designed 9-hole course, which is now being used promote the game.
Harmeet Singh Khalon said beginners needed a first-hand experience of professional golfing and by holding regular putting competition at the
available golfing ranges could go a long way in indentifying and promoting the golfing talent in the region.
