The Governor said Manish Rawat was just a minute and a few seconds behind the bronze medal winner in the 20-km walk. Despite proper training and facilities, achieving the 13th rank should be considered a great achievement on the part of Rawat, Paul said.

He suggested that the state government should provide better facilities and coaching to Manish Rawat so that he can bring laurels to the state and the nation in the forthcoming international sports events. This would encourage and inspire other sports talents in the state, he added.

DGP MA Ganapathy and Additional DGP (vigilance) Ashok Kumar were also present on the occasion.
