Guru Nanak Int’l lads, Kum Kalan Govt School eves log wins

Guru Nanak International Public School and Government School, Kum Kalan, wrapped up their matches of the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively, in the 19th Ludhiana District Softball Championship for Junior Boys and Girls being held at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

In the girls’ category, Government School, Kum Kalan, came out triumphant against RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, and BCM Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, respectively.

In the match against, RS Model Senior Secondary School, Government School, Kum Kalan, girls faced no challenge as the latter won it hands down (11-1). Simranjeet Kaur, Pooja, Manjot Kaur and Ramandeep Kaur chipped in two runs each whereas Shweta was the lone scorer for the losers.

However, in the second fixture, Government School, Kum Kalan, had to toil hard before coming out winners 6-5 against BCM School, Shastri Nagar, in which Ramandeep (2), Sandeep, Sumandeep, Manjot and Gundeep Kaur accounted for one run each. For the losing side, Ravneet, Saloni, Asmi, Simar and Supreet scored one run each.

In another match of the girls’ category, Teja Singh Swatantar School proved too good for BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, as the former won it easily 10-0.

In the boys’ category, Guru Nanak International Public School drubbed BCM Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, 10-0 with the main contributions coming through Bipinjot and Rajwinder who accounted for two runs each.

Guru Nanak International Public School won its second match against Government School, Kum Kalan, in a similar manner (10-0) in which again, Bipinjot and Rajwinder played the pivot role.

In other matches (boys), RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, survived a scare before romping home victorious 3-2 against DAV Public School while Government School, Kum Kalan, too, had many anxious moments against BCM School, Focal Point, as the former managed to scrape past by a whisker 10-9 and Teja Singh Swatantar School recorded an emphatic 10-0 win over RS Model School, Shastri Nagar. — OC
