Mrinalini Sharma and Aadita Vashisht won the finals of girls (U-12) and girls (U-14) categories, respectively, on the concluding day of the Sunrise Open Tennis Tournament for boys and girls (U-10, U-12 and U-14) championship at the Chandigarh Club in Sector 1 here today.
In the girls (U-12) finals, Mrinalini Sharma overpowered her rival in a well-contested match. She defeated Snighda Sran, 9-8(4), in a tie-breaker during the best of seven games format.
In another well-contested final, Aadita Vashisht posted a win over Jyotsana Yadav, 9-8(2), in the girls (U-14) category.
Earlier, in the semifinals of the girls (U-12) event, Snigdha Sran beat Konika Singh, 6-3, while Mrinalini defeated Aditi, 6-2.
In the semifinals of the girls (U-14) event, Aadita beat Gunjan, 6-2, while Jyotsana defeated Mrinalini, 6-3.
Under the boys (U-10) category, Shraey Vir defeated Vishwaditya Kadian, 6-1, to win the championship. Earlier, Shraey defeated Bharat Gupta, 4-1, and Vishwaditya got the better of Aakarsh Kakkar, 4-1, to reach the finals.
Arhaan Pahwa won the title in the boys (U-12) category after defeating Chaityana Dua, 9-3, while in the boys (U-14) final, Manveer Singh logged an easy win against Jitin Kumar, 9-2.
In the boys (U-18) title run, Akshit Chhabra routed Rahul Kumar, 9-8(5).
