Himal Gusain scored 8½ points to win the second Chitkara International School Open FIDE Rating Chess Championship, conculded at Chitkara International School, Sector 25, here today.
Shubham Lakudkar (8 points) of Maharashtra finished second while the third position was shared by Suhaib Ahmad of Uttar Pradesh with Tarini Goyal of Chandigarh (7½ points).
A total of 287 players from 14 states participated in the event. Sumit Grover, Pankaj, Narendra Singh, Haribabu Sharma, Singh Arvinder Preet Rail, Vinay Raj Bhatt, Akshay Anand, Ashutosh Kumar and Tejas Joshi ended their campaign with seven points. Earlier this year, Gusain continued won the 2nd Triple-C All India FIDE Rating Open Chess Championship -2016' held at Puri, Odishal. He scored eight points out of nine games. In the last round on the top board he defeated International Master CRG Krishna of Andhra Pradesh to emerge as champion. Aasheesh Bhatnagar, Director office of academic support of the host school awarded the winners.
