Both Ravibir Singh Grewal and Ravi Virk who are in the fray are deserving candidates.

Grewal is currently the acting president of the club, having taken on the mantle after the untimely demise of club president IPS Mann, and has proved himself worthy of the responsibility.

His team consists of Capt Mohanbir Singh, Rohit Singh Dagar, Sanjit Singh Bala, Sukhjyot Preet Singh Matharoo, Shona Singh, Arvind Bajaj, Kulbir Singh Brar, Col Hardev Singh Mann, Col Swarndeep Singh Batth and Zorawar Singh and promises to preserve and maintain existing course and club conditions.

“The golf course is in excellent condition and we have received a lot of positive feedback from our members. The captain of the course, Lt Col Karan Thandi, and his team have put in a lot of hard work, which is evident now. Our main priority is the golf course, though, we have also undertaken projects within the club house, all of which have been within the budget provided for the same,” said Grewal.

“Next year we want to preserve and maintain what we have,” he adds.

The Chandigarh Golf Club elections are scheduled to be held on April 16.

“We have also got a refund of Rs 10 lakh from the UT Electricity Department due to wrong billing,” added Zorawar Singh.

“Since we have taken up a lot of upgrade projects like the club bar, family lounge, front gate and entrance redesign and swimming pool tiling, our agenda for the coming year will be to raise the standards and upkeep of all the facilities without bringing in too many building changes,” said Capt Mohanbir Sing.

Meanwhile, Ravi Virk is seeking his first term as president. His team consists of Amarinder Singh Aulakh, Sanjeev Verma, Col AD Singh, Alamgir Singh Grewal, Ankush Garg, Lt Col HS Chahal, Jagdeep Singh, Dr Jaspreet Singh Batth, Parvinder Takkar and Satwant Singh Sandhu.

Virk, when contacted, was unavailable for comment on his team’s agenda for the upcoming elections.
