Ludhiana, December 28
Mandeep Kaur, a student of Khalsa College for Women (KCW), Civil Lines, and Kulbir Singh of the Ludhiana Weightlifting Club were adjudged the best lifters among women and men’s category, respectively, during the Ludhiana District Weightlifting Championship held at the Ludhiana Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Club near Rakh Bagh today.
The championship was organised by the District Ludhiana Weightlifting Association.
In the women’s section, Khalsa College for Women proved their dominance by clinching maximum medals while in the men’s section, Ludhiana Weightlifting Club stamped their superiority over others.
Vikas Thakur, who won a silver medal in the last Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, was felicitated for his outstanding performance by the association. He was given a cash prize of Rs 21,000 besides a citation.

(Women) 48 Kg: Noor Bano, Jaspreet Kaur and Parminder Kaur; 53 Kg: Jaswinder Kaur, Pardeep Kaur and Gurpreet Kaur; 58 Kg: Hem Lata, Rimpy and Harjinder Kaur; 63 Kg: Mandeep Kaur, Harpreet Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur; 69 Kg: Paramjit Kaur, Preeti Rawat and Mandeep Kaur; 75 kg: Raspreet Kaur and Rajveer Kaur; +75 Kg: Mamta Rana, Taranjit Kaur and Amandeep Kaur.
(Men) 56 Kg: Atul, Amrik Singh and Pratham Gupta; 62 Kg: Karamdeep Singh, Sushil Kumar and Bhuvan Kumar; 69 Kg: Ravi, Maninder Singh and Rahul Kumar; 77 Kg: Mohd Hafiz, Simranjeet Singh and Parminder Singh; 94 Kg: Kulbir Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Shubham.
