Minerva Academy outclass LAFC

Minerva Academy Football Club (MAFC) continued to spread their magic in the ongoing Youth (U-15) League played at the Sector 17 football stadium today.

In their third consecutive win, Minerva Academy defeated Lonestar Kashmir Football Club 4-0 to take their tally to 10 points. High on confidence, the MAFC lads played a good possessional game and struck in the 36th minute. 

Striker Amarjeet Mishra scored the first goal with a perfect header. Continuing their attack, the side doubled their lead through midfielder Jackson Singh.

Just two minutes before the lemon break, the midfielder tapped in the ball after receiving a perfect pass from Amarjeet Singh to put his team 2-0 ahead. The MAFC lads dominated the next 45 minutes of the play and scored two more goals to win their tie. 

Govind Bahadur scored the third goal in the 48th minute while Amarjeet Singh found a goal of his, making it 4-0 in the 89th minute. 

In the second match of the day, the Indian Youth Soccer Association team played out a 2-2 draw against Baichung Bhutia Football Schools (New Delhi). In the third match of the day, Sudeva defeated local Youngster's Academy 1-0. The next round matches will be played on February 15 (Monday) at the same venue. 

“The team is in good touch and we are left with only two more matches,” said MAFC coach Surinder Singh. 

“I think we will continue to dominate the tournament. In a short period of time, the lads have started combining well.”
