Minerva all set for I-League debut

Chandigarh, January 5

Minerva Punjab will kick-start their I-League campaign against Chennai City FC at Nehru Stadium in Chennai on January 8.

The outfit will be led by Chandigarh-based coach Surinder Singh. Former  national team Technical Director and Head of Youth Development Colm Toal has been deputed as the technical director of the team. The club will play all its home matches at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana. India goalkeeper and city lad Gurpreet Sandhu gave a pep talk to the squad at the Football Stadium, Sector 17, here ahead of their debut.

The debutants have been struggling to find a sponsor and it remains to be seen how the franchise remains afloat in the coming days. — TNS
