Nandini, Arjun adjudged best shooters

Local shooters Nandini Kansal and Arjun Babuta were adjudged best shooters in the women’s and men’s category, respectively, during the concluding day of the 40th Chandigarh State Shooting Championship at Markfed Shooting Range in Mohali yesterday.

A total of 216 shooters, including men and women, took part in senior, junior and youth categories of the event organised by the Chandigarh Rifle Association.

In the individual event of the Small Bore Free Rifle NR Prone (senior) men, Vikas, Harpreet Singh and Armaan Mahel claimed the top three places by securing 282 points, 273 points and 272 points, respectively.

Meanwhile in the Small Bore Free Rifle NR Prone (junior) men, Armaan Mahel bagged the gold medal by securing 272 points, while Manik Arora and Sahil Samyal pocketed silver and bronze medals by securing 265 points and 263 points, respectively.

In the Air Rifle (ISSF) senior men’s category, Arjun Babuta (592 points), Arshdeep Singh (586 points) and Gagandeep Singh (581 points) secured top three places whereas air rifle (ISSF) junior men category, Arjun Babuta (592 points), Arshdeep Singh (582 points) and Mehardeep Dadwal (562 points) bagged the top honours. In the Air Rifle (ISSF) junior women’s event, Shivani Dogra secured 381 points to bag the medal. In the Air Rifle-Peep Sight (senior) men’s event, Vikas shot 380 out of 400 points, while Khush Dhawan (378/400) and Simranjot Uppal (369/400) were the other top performers. In the (junior) men’s category of the same event, Vikas (380 points), Khush Dhawan(378 points) and Paramraj Sidhu (354 points) made a podium finish.

Meanwhile, in the Small Bore Free Rifle (junior) women three-position category, Priya scored 275 points followed by Shirin Godara who posted 268 points. Also, in the Air Rifle Peep-Sight youth women’s category, Mokshita Sharma was the only winner by securing 335 points.
