Dehradun, January 5
The Uttarakhand Government has joined hands with the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) to promote adventure sports in the state. To encourage adventure lovers, the National Youth Hostels Association is going to organise a National Snow Skiing and Tracking event at Auli, Joshimath, from January 10 to 30.
This was informed by YHAI president Dr Dhirendra Sharma at a press conference held at Press Club on Monday.
Dr Dhirendra said: “The state Tourism Department and the YHAI have teamed up to organise adventure sports in the state.” During the year-long events, mountain biking at Jim Corbett National Park, mountaineering at Khaliya Top and Har Ki Doon and snow skiing at Auli will be organised. Interested people can register themselves at yhaindia.org, he added.
Dr Devendra Bhasin, Sanjay Tandan, OP Kaushik, Dr Ravi Dixit and Laxman Singh Mehta were present on the occasion.
Basketball teams
The Uttarakhand Basketball Association has announced the state boys’ and girls’ teams for the upcoming 66th Senior National Basketball Championship to be held at Mysore. Mandeep Grover, general secretary of the association, gave this information here today.
The boys’ team comprises Riyajudin, Pradeep, Murli, Vishesh, Yadvinder, Anoop, Arjun, Atul, Vinay, Abhishek, Ankush and Rahul, while the girls’ team comprises Shailja, Deepika, Garima, Neetu, Shivani, Mamta, Bhavna, Priyanka, Roma, Priya and Shradha.
