Neo Sports to telecast cricket matches

The Neo Sports channel will telecast live matches of a cricket tournament to be held in Haridwar from August 14. The quarterfinal, semifinal and final matches of the Uttarakhand-Uttar Pradesh Champions Cricket League (UUPCCL) will be telecast.
NK Maurya, director of Divya Future Sports, says the matches will be played under floodlight to draw crowd and make it accessible to the maximum number of television audience that demand day night cricket matches more.
The prize money for the winning team is Rs 7 lakh while the runner-up will get Rs 5 lakh and the second runner-up Rs 3 lakh. Local cricket administrators say this is the highest prize money to be paid in cricket tournaments in Haridwar.
Six teams have made it to the UUPCCL. These are Haridwar, Kashipur (Udham Singh Nagar) and Kotdwar (Pauri Garhwal) from Uttarakhand an d Pilibhit, Bareilly and Muzaffarnagar from Uttar Pradesh.
Cricket Association of Haridwar general secretary Inder Mohan Barthwal says he is happy on the league featuring rural players and live telecast of matches on Neo Sports. This will boost cricket not only in Haridwar but also the whole state, he adds.
