Nipun helps Chandigarh to victory

Nipun Pandita wrecked Ludhiana batting line-up to help hosts Chandigarh to a 112-run win in the ongoing Punjab State Inter-district U-19 Cricket Tournament for DP Azad trophy at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, here today.
The hosts bundled out Ludhiana for just 56 runs in 17.2 overs as Nipun (6/18) ran through the visitors' top order. Spinner Resham Sharma claimed 4 for 18 to complete the rout. Jaish Jain (26) was the only batsman to enter double digits.
Earlier put in to bat, the hosts rode on opener Jagmeet Singh's 77-run knock to post 169-run target for the visitors.
Jagmeet's 76-ball innings was studded with four boundaries and three sixes. Resham Sharma contributed 29 runs to the total as Chandigarh innings folded up at 168 runs in 28 overs.
For Ludhiana, Dipin Chitkara returned with match figures of 3 for 33, while Anmol Sharma grabbed 2 for 41.
Patiala win
At Dhruv Pandove stadium, hosts Patiala stunned Mohali by nine wickets with opener Prabhsimran Singh cracking an unbeaten 116 in response to visitors 203.
Opting to bat, Mohali was helped by Shubman Gill's 95-run knock to post a decent total.
Nirmal Singh (30) along with Gill added 78 runs for the opening wicket before Hardik Chaudhary (28) and Mayank Sindhu (21) stretched the total past 200-run mark.
For Patiala Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Markande and Tejpreet Singh scalped two wickets each.
In reply, Patiala started positively with Jashanpreet Singh Sidhu and Prabhsimran adding 118 runs for the first wicket.
The partnership was broken when Sidhu holed out to Mayank off Gurkirat Romana for 38.
Skipper Anmolpreet Singh and Prabhsimran then added an undefeated 86 runs for the second wicket to take their side home.
Prabhsimran's century knock was studded with 12 boundaries and two sixes. Anmolpreet contributed 41 runs to the chase. Romana (1/39) was the lone wicket taker for Mohali.
Match abandoned
Hosts Jalandhar and Amritsar shared two points each after rain brought at early end to the game at FC Sondhi Cricket Ground.
Batting first, Amritsar were 107 for no loss in 23.3 overs when the match was called off due to heavy rain.
Vivek Sharma was unbeaten on 53 off 72 balls, while Marshal Bhagat was playing on 49.
Chandigarh will play against hosts Amritsar on August 26, while Jalandhar will lock horns with Patiala in their backyard. Ludhiana will face Mohali.
