Prachi, Loveneet adjudged best athletes

The 140th annual sports day of Government Mohindra College concluded here today.

Chief guest DIG Balkar Singh Sidhu distributed prizes among the winners. DSP Harpal Singh, international boxer and SHO Patiala Jaswinder Singh Tiwana accompanied him on the occasion. Prachi and Loveneet were adjudged the best athletes on the occasion.

Sidhu expressed happiness at his visit to this 140-year-old institution. He congratulated the college at its grand achievement of grabbing 3.86 CGPA in the NACC accreditation.

He motivated the students to participate in sports as it makes the person mentally and physically healthy and is helpful in fetching them good jobs as well. He asked the participants who could not win any prize not to lose heart but to work harder for the next time.

School principal Dr Sukhbir Singh Thind congratulated the winners and appreciated them for their dedication towards sports.

He affirmed that sportspersons have a great role in Mahindra College being a champion in all fields.

Results

Girls: Prachi, MA second-year student, won first prize in 100, 200 and 800m races and long jump, second position in triple jump and third position in high jump; Ritu, BA second-year student, won first prize in triple jump, high jump and shot put and second prize in 100m race, long jump and discus throw; Rajwinder Kaur, MA second-year student, won first prize in shot put, second prize in 100, 200 and 800m races and third prize in triple jump; Harmandeep Kaur, BSc student, won third prize in 400m race; Sukhdeep Kaur, BSc student, won first prize in discus throw and second prize in shot put; Rajveer Kaur, BA second-year student, won third prize in discus throw and shot put; Parneet Kaur, BA second-year student, won second prize in high jump; Ann, PGDCA student, won third prize in 200m race; Jyoti Kamboj won third prize in 800m race; and Gagandeep won third prize in shot put.

Boys: Rajinder Singh won first prize in 400 and 800m races, third prize in 5,000m race and triple jump; Joga Singh won first prize in 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000m race and second in 800m race; Satpal Singh won third prize in 800 and 10,000m race; Harpreet Singh first in relay race, second in 100m, 400m race and shot put and third in 1,500m race; Jagmohan Singh third in 400 and second in 200m races; Lovepreet Singh second in shot put and third in discus throw; Sajan second in discus throw and third in shot put; Anshuman first in shot put and second in discus throw; Amritpal Singh second in relay race and triple jump and third in high jump; 

Loveneet Singh second in 200m, relay race, 100m, triple jump, high jump, javelin throw and long jump; Harpreet Singh won second prize in 5,000 and 10,000m race and third prize in relay race; Akashdeep Singh won first prize in relay race, third in 100m and 200m races; and Shiv Sharma won second prize in high jump, third in relay race.
