Rishab Bhagat and Mayank Markande helped Punjab colts script an innings win over Odisha in a Cooch Behar Trophy match in Bhubaneswar today.
Bowlers maintained their stranglehold over Odisha on the final day as the hosts were bowled out for 131 runs in their second innings.
Punjab recorded an innings and one run win over Odisha to garner seven points from the match.
Earlier resuming at overnight 75/1, Odisha capitulated to 131 all out in 64.5 overs as medium pacer Bhagat claimed 5/63, while leg spinner Markande grabbed 4/20.
For Odisha, opener Swastik Samal scored 37, while Raghunath Malla gathered 24 runs.
Punjab will play their last league match against Chhattisgarh at Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala from December 19 to 22.
St. Kabir win title
St. Kabir Public School, Sector 26, beat hosts St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45, by four wickets to win the inaugural Richard Carver Memorial Cricket Tournament here today.
Electing to bat, Stephen’s boys managed only 90 runs from their allotted quota of 20 overs.
Kartik Walia (13) and Sidharth Puri (11) were the only batsmen to make double digits scores.
For the bowling side, Arjun claimed two wickets, while Nishunk and Aryan claimed a wicket apiece.
Needing 91 to win, St. Kabir limped home in the 19th over with four wickets to spare. Dushyant scored 26, while Nishunk contributed 15 runs to the chase.
For St. Stephen’s, Sparsh and Vinayak bagged two wickets each to coonfirm their win.
