Rishi, Vrinda enter second round

Rishi Jalota blanked Dhairya 6-0 6-0 in the first round match of the boys U-14 category in the ongoing AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Complex, Sector 1, here today.  

Dhananjay had an easy outing against Viren (6-0 6-2), while Shaurya overcame Shukhpreet 6-4 6-0. Sehaj posted a 6-3 6-3 win over Sidharth.

In the boys U-16 category, MS Karthik struggled to beat Kunal. 

Karthik won the first set 6-3 but Kunal bounced back to pocket second set 6-0. In the third set, Karthik displayed good variations to clinch the set (6-2) and the match.  

Manveer Singh, meanwhile, came from behind to upset Mankeerat. 

Manveer, who lost the opening set 3-6 rallied to win the next two sets 6-4 6-1 to beat his opponent. 

Sidharth got better of Sehaj 6-4 6-1 and Krishan trounced Bhavnoor 6-4 6-0.

In the girls U-16 segment, Vrinda rallied to upset Mehar. Vrinda lost first set 2-6 but managed to win the next two sets 6-4 6-2 to bag the match. 

Nimrat, meanwhile, blanked Aarzoo 6-0 6-0. Ridhima beat Aaditaa 6-1 6-4 while Saisha defeated Shirishti 6-3 6-3. 

In the girls U-14 section, Snigdha defeated Harmandeep 6-2 6-1, while Mehar blanked Priyanka Garg 6-0 6-0. Ridhima registered 6-1 6-0 win over Banita.
