Shuttlers Deevika, Sidharth clinch titles

Shuttlers Deevika Sihag and Sidharth Modi bagged the title of (Under-13) girls’ and boys’ categories, respectively, during the concluding day of the 10th Ashwani Gupta Memorial District Badminton Championship at the badminton courts of Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3 here today.

In the finals of boys (U-13) category, Sidharth Modi defeated Sangam Sharma 21-15, 18-21 and 21-18, while in girls (U-13) event title winner Deevika Sihag defeated Ridhima in straight sets 21-13 and 21-14. In the (U-13) boys’ doubles event, Ishan and Sidharth Modi defeated Himneesh and Sangam 21-16 and 21-14, while in the title clash of (U-13) girls’ doubles category, pair of Devika and Ridhima overpowered Arshia and Stuti 21-19 and 25-23. In the (U-15) boys’ and girls’ singles, Anushrav defeated Shiraj Datt 21-9 and 21-8, while Rashi defeated Chavi 21-19 and 21-18, respectively, to claim the titles. In the (U-15) doubles’ category, Anushrav and Shiraj Datt beat Khushant and Vakul 21-7 and 21-8 to bag the boys’ category, while Chavi and Rashi defeated Ananya and Ayushi 21-7 and 21-8 to clinch girls’ title. In the final match of the (U-17) boys, Anushrav defeated Deevesh Mittal. Meanwhile, in the final of the (U-19) boys’ category, Ayush Gautam outclassed Abhijot 21-14, 13-21 and 21-15. In the girls (U-19) final, Shivani Singh overpowered Divyanshi 21-15 and 21-14. In the senior category men’s final, Ketan Chahal registered a straight win over Abhijot Mittal 21-11 and 21-11, while in men’s doubles, Akshit Mahajan and Ketan Chahal claimed the trophy by defeating Abhijot Mittal and Ayush Gautam 21-19, 17-21 and 21-12. In the women’s singles, Shivani Singh beat Jyoti Nashier 22-20 and 21-9.
