Sidharth, Vrinda labour to quarterfinals

Sidharth Goel rallied from a set down to beat Abhay Mohan and seal a spot in the boys' U-16 quarterfinals in the ongoing STA-AITA Open Tennis Championship held at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here today.
Goel, after losing the opening set 2-6, came back to win the next two sets
6-2 6-4 to advance to the last-eight stage of the tournament.
Sukhpreet Singh, meanwhile, beat Manvir Sohi to enter the quarterfinals. Sukhpreet lost the first set 4-6, but managed to win the next two sets 6-2 6-2 move ahead.
Parveen Kumar stunned Akshit Chabra 2-6 6-3 7-5, while Divyansh Agarhari overcame Sarabjot Singh 6-7(4) 6-3 6-1 to enter the quarterfinals.
In the boys' U-14 category, Shrenik Bhalla drubbed Avish Verma 6-0 6-4, while Sukhpreet Singh registered a 6-4 6-4 win over Aryan Thakur. Ajay Singh got the better of Shivdev Singh Walia 6-1 6-2.
Vrinda Sharma, meanwhile, bounced back from a one set deficit to
beat Vanshita Malhotra 3-6 7-6(3) 6-4 and book a berth in the girls' U-14 quarterfinals.
Pawandeep Kaur beat Mrinalini Sharma 7-5 6-3, while Aaditaa Vashisht thumped Innayat Sandhu 6-0 6-1 to progress to the last-eight stage.
In the girls' U-16 category, Sukhmani Sahota beat Mrinalini Sharma 6-2 6-1, while Sohani Makkar edged past Vanshita Malhotra 6-2 6-3.
