Sports meet concludes at SMJN College

Trophies and medals were given away to the winners of various events on the conclusion of the annual sports meet at Shravan Nath Math Jawaharlal Nehru College here today.

In various athletics events organised today, Ankur Chauhan, Sumit Nautiyal, Kailash Rawat, Pratibha Uniyal, Seema Negi, Sweta Rana, Ankit Kumar, Rohit Singh, Anil Negi, Sheetal, Sapna Negi, Sumit Nautiyal, Nitin Kumar, Pravesh Kumar, Jeenat, Himanshu Bhatt, Deepak Chaturvedi, Kapil Kumar, Ankita, Vandana Giri, Ruchi Rawat, Chandana Giri, Pankaj Kumar, Sameeksha Chaudhari, Shantanu Yadav, Sunaina, Sumit Tyagi and Rohit Singh won medals.

Chief sports superintendent Dr Tejveer Singh Tomar said the 100 metre, 200 metre, 400 metre, 4x400 metre, 800 metre, 1,500 metre and 3,000 metre events were conducted at the college ground. Pratibha Uniyal and Himanshu Bhatt were given awards for their overall performances.

Mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj, Mata Mansa Devi Mandir Trust secretary, who is also secretary of SMJN College management committee, president Lakhan Giri Maharaj, Dr Sunil Kumar Batra, Dr SK Maheshwari, chief sports officer Dr TS Tomar, Dr JC Arya, Nalini Jain, Dr Sushma Nayal and trainer Rajendra Nautiyal were present at the sports meet.

The sports meet was earlier inaugurated by city legislator Madan Kaushik, who urged students to take part in sporting activities as both mental and physical well-being was important in life.

College principal Dr Avneet Kumar Ghildiyal mentioned the past year’s sporting achievement of students in cricket, lawn tennis, table tennis, judo, athletics, yoga, hockey and boxing.

He came up with the assurance that better facilities would be provided on the college campus for physical and sporting activities.
