Hosts St. Anne's beat Chandigarh Baptist School by 18 runs in a low scoring final to win the inaugural Youngster U-14 Cricket Tournament here today.

Opting to field, Baptist bowlers led by Sarabjot restricted the hosts to 100/7 in 20 overs. Sarabjot claimed 3/19, while Shoiab returned with figures of 2/16.

Allen scored a useful 32 off 35 balls, while Aanyak chipped in with a brisk 30. Harshit added 20 runs to the total.

In reply, Baptist could manage only 82/8 in the allotted quota of overs after they lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to provide any impetus to their innings.

Tanishq claimed 3/10, while Harshit bagged 2/16 to put the brakes on Baptist scoring. 

For the visitors, Puneet struck 27 off 22 balls, while Sarabjot scored 18 runs.

Puneet of Chandigarh Baptist was awarded man of the series trophy, while Tanishq and Allen of St. Anne's were adjudged the best bowler and best batsman. — TNS
