Uttarakhand will be hosting the National Games in 2018. This was decided at a meeting of the Indian Olympic Association held in Chennai. This would be the first time that the state would host such an event. Chief Minister Harish Rawat said this was a matter of pride for the state. With an event of such a scale, the sports facilities in the state and opportunities for players would increase, he said.
