Tehri Titans lift UPL cricket trophy

Dehradun: Tehri Titans clinched the trophy of the second Uttarakhand Premier League by defeating Champawat Warriors by 67 runs in the final played at the Rangers College ground here on Sunday.

Vaibhav Panwar, who was awarded the man of the match trophy, played brilliant innings by scoring 63 runs and picking one wicket. Batting first, Tehri Titans put up a total of 210 runs in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Champawat Warriors could score just 143 runs at the loss of eight wickets. Ashish Kumar and Sunil Bisht picked two wickets each for Tehri Titans.

Mayor Vinod Chamoli gave away prizes to the winners during the closing ceremony. Tehri Titans were given the prize money of Rs 6 lakh. The runner-up, Champawat Warriors, got Rs 4 lakh. Shivam Saini bagged the title of Player of Uttarakhand for picking 31 wickets and scoring 65 runs in the tournament.

Manmohan Singh Mall, Rakesh Oberoi, Subhash Ramola and members of the UPL committee were present on the occasion.

Eight-wicket win for Indian Public School

The Indian Public School (IPS) defeated St Joseph’s Academy (SJA) by eight wickets in a match of the 9th Rohitash Singh Memorial Super-8 Cricket Tournament played at The Heritage School on Sunday. 

In the first innings, SJA scored 23 runs while IPS scored 46 runs. In the second innings, SJA made 31 runs and put the target of 8 runs. In reply, IPS comfortably achieved the target without losing a wicket.

In another matches of the day, Carmon School defeated Doon International School by six wickets. The Asian School beat St Xavier’s School by 34 runs. — TNS
