Varun, Anurag, Piyush claim top spots in rowing meet

Rowers Varun Antil, Anurag and Piyush Sharma claimed top three spots in the single sculls event at the Chandigarh State Sub-Junior and Challenger Sprints Rowing Championship for boys/men and girls/women, held at Sukhna Lake.

Varun claimed the gold medal after completing the race in 02:49:438 minutes while Anurag claimed the silver medal in 03:09:451 minutes. Piyush Sharma got bronze medal after completing the patch in 03:09:509 minutes.

The event was organised under single sculls, double sculls, coxless pairs in boys and girls, men’s and women’s category while the coxless fours (4 -) event was organised only in the men’s category.

In the double sculls event of boys (sub-junior) event, Varun Antil and Sukhdev Singh claimed gold medal while Anurag Walia and Manan Batish finished second in the championship.

In the women’s challenger sprints, Ranjana Devi claimed the top position in single sculls event while the pair of Amritpal Kaur and Ranjana Devi followed by Manisha and Tanya Sangwan claimed gold medal and silver medal, respectively, in the double sculls category.
