Importance of being typical
Kareena played a Maharashtrian mulgi with excellent composure in Singham Returns. Not only did she dress her part, she also aced the Marathi dialect with grace and poise. To perfect her character, the actress learnt Marathi and also took lessons in the conventional Maharashtrian way of grinding spices, which was required for a particular scene in the film.
Shopping to perfection
We saw Asin’s Marathi mulgi avatar in the Akshay Kumar starrer Khiladi 786. Asin, who has absolutely no connect with the vernacular, went out of her way to perfect the look. She was so excited to play a boisterous Maharashtrian girl that she decided to personally select a few nauvari saris for the role.
Tailored for the character
She has played a Marathi actress twice. First, in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey and then in Agneepath. And, judging by her look in both films, we have to say that Priyanka carries off the Marathi mulgi look like none other.
Raring to go
Vidya looked every bit a Marathi mulgi wearing a red nauvari sari, nath and gajra when she grooved to the Mala Jau De lavani track in Ferrari Ki Sawaari. The actress has always expressed her love for Marathi language and her desire to work in Marathi films. Going by her look in the song, we're sure she will have no stress in playing a typical Maharashtrian.
Banking on props
Taapsee Pannu, who has no connection with Maharashtra, will be donning the role of a typical Marathi mulgi in Neeraj Pandey's espionage drama, Baby. In the first look of the film, she is seen draped in a nine-yard sari, with a nose pin and hair coiled in.
