Indira, Patel remembered

The HPCC today organised a function to commemorate the death anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Congress Office, here today.

Addressing party workers, Congress president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi played a major role in the formation of Himachal Pradesh ande had bestowed statehood status to Himachal on January 25, 1971. He also lauded the role of Sardar Patel and said unity, peace and harmony was the first condition if India had to move forward and attain new heights of development.

He criticised the NDA government for trying to divide the country on the basis of caste, creed and religion and said Modi government could go to any extent to gain power in the country. — TNS
