Tackling drug menace Jagraon SSP’s priority

New Jagraon SSP Opinderjit Singh Ghuman assumed charge today. Ghuman, who was earlier SSP Barnala, has replaced Ravcharan Singh Brar as SSP Jagraon.
Speaking to the media after assuming charge, Ghuman said his priority would be eradicating the menace of drugs from the area. He said drug addiction was a serious issue. He opined drug addicts need special support from their respective families as well as society. Ghuman said before assuming charge, he has collected information about the areas from where drugs are smuggled into Jagraon. “I have learnt that several residents of certain villages in the Sidhwan Bet area are involved in drug peddling. I assure you they will be arrested soon,” he added.
Apart from eradicating drug menace, he would also work for maintaining peace, harmony and law and order in the area. Ghuman has asked people to cooperate with the police as true information received from the public is useful in preventing crime.
