Vikram Singh Negi, Congress MLA from Pratap Nagar, was presented with a ceremonial sword during a function to rename Government School at Uppu village in the Thauldhar block of Tehri Garhwal district today.

Negi announced the renaming of the school after Kafu Singh Chauhan, the legendary warrior, who cared for the well-being of the people around the Pratap Nagar block during the reign of the Garhwal king. Chauhan community members presented the ceremonial sword to Vikram as a mark of gratitude for renaming the school after Kafu Singh Chauhan. Negi said Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand is a land of warriors and Gods. The government had started the exercise to rename institutions so that people could learn from the lives of legendary heroes such as Kafu Singh Chauhan.

President of the Rajya Andolankari Manch and Congress secretary Narendar Rana thanked Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Vikram Negi for renaming the school after Chauhan. — TNS
