The meeting of the autumn session of the Imperial Legislative Council was held at Simla, His Excellency the Viceroy presiding. After members had taken the oath of allegiance, the Viceroy delivered a speech in which he announced the personnel of the committee appointed to enquire into the recent disturbances in the Punjab. He also declared that an Indemnifying Act will be passed immediately. Sir Vincent said the Government had no intention of publishing information as to the circumstances under which Sir Sankaran Nair vacated his office, nor did they propose to take action regarding the speech by Sir Reginald Craddock.
