Mr. Dharma Vira, who was cordially received by Speaker Vejoy Kumar Banerjee and the Deputy Chairman of the Council at the Legislature Building, was booed by supporters of the United Front on his way to the chamber and back. “Leave Bengal, leave now”, shouted the demonstrators. As he skipped a part of the speech prepared by the State Cabinet, members shouted: “Read the full text.” He ignored the interruptions and went on with the speech.
