Dyal Singh College, Lahore.

THE foundation stone laying ceremony of the Physics and Chemistry Laboratories of the Dyal Singh College, Lahore, was a highly successful function. Dr. Sir Protul Chandra Chatterji presided. Diwan Bahadur Narendra Nath, M.A., Lala Shiv Dyal, M.A., and Rai Sahib Professor Ruchi Ram, M.A., made speeches reminiscent of the departed patriot and philanthropist, Sardar Dyal Singh, who left his all for the province of his birth and added their personal tributes to the noble traits of the Sardar and their high appreciation of the invaluable services rendered by him to the cause of education and enlightenment in the province. The last named speaker specially referred to the difficulties which the Trustees had to surmount in winning for the province the heritage left by the Sardar. The story is well worth reading if for nothing else to show the courage, perseverance and public spirit which the Trustees brought to bear upon their task. Sir P.C. Chatterji said that the Sardar’s example was one which every Indian should hold before himself.
