THE above institution which is meeting a real need started in July 1914 as an experimental measure in the form of a dyeing class. The number of admissions increased every year, and the class did a great deal of practical work under the direction of Mr. J.P. Srivastava, M.Sc., (Vict.), A.M.S.T. (Manch). who is now the Principal. Last year the school was made a centre for the examinations of the City and Guilds of London Institute and six out of seven students who appeared in the examination held in April 1916 in cotton dyeing, grade I, passed, three taking a first class. On the recommendation of the Board of Industries the class has now been established by Government on a permanent basis as a recognized technical, school. The staff has been adequately strengthened.
