PM Rules out Separate Telengana

NEW DELHI, June 3 (PTI)—The Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, is understood to have told the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister tonight that there was no question of creating a separate Telengana State or of yielding to violence by the Telengana agitators. Mr. Brahmananda Reddy, who airdashed here accompanied by the Chairman of the Telengana Regional Committee Mr. Chokka Rao, had an hour-long meeting with Mrs. Gandhi shortly after his arrival here. Both Mr. Reddy and Mr. Chokka Rao are scheduled to meet Mrs. Gandhi tomorrow. While Mr. Reddy is understood to have apprised Mrs. Gandhi of the present political situation in the State as also the damage caused by recent, cyclone Mrs. Gandhi expressed her sympathies with the cyclone-affected people. She recreated that the protagonists of a separate Telengana should have indulged in violence despite the Government taking various steps in remove their grievances.
