AS we pointed out in our leading article yesterday, Sir Pherozeshah Mehta was a man of conviction. If he felt convinced of a thing, he would stick to it, no matter even if the whole world went against him. When the standard time was being introduced in Bombay, a great discussion was started among the members of the Municipal Corporation regarding the time should be kept by the Crawford-market clock. Almost all the prominent clocks of Bombay, including the Bombay University clock and railway clocks accepted standard time Sir Pherozeshah would not however, consent to the changing of the Bombay time on the Crowford-market clock.  And when some members opined that it was no use only one clock showing Bombay time when all business men would be using standard time he is credited with the  remark  reply: "In spite of standard time all over Bombay,  the Crawford-market clock will continue to show Bombay time."
