Swami Dayanand''s Death Anniversary
IT was the Punjab to which Swami Dayanand Saraswati devoted to the bulk of his energy and activities in the cause of his mission, the propagation of the Vedic religion and it is in this province that his mission has fructified in the form of innumerable institutions for the spread of secular and religious education, the notable among which are the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College and School at Lahore, the Gurukula at Kangri and the Kanya Mahavidyalya at Jullundur. There is hardly a town of any importance in the province where the Arya Samaj has not a school for boys or girls and a large number have both. It is in the fitness of things, therefore, that the death anniversary of the Swami which fell on Diwali day should be celebrated throughout the province when opportunity should be taken to review his work of religious revival and social amelioration.
