THE public complaints which have for months past made Amritsar railway station, once one of the most popular stations on the North-Western Railway, a bye-word of reproach among the population of all classes, have, it appears, at last obtain a hearing from the North-Western Railway administration. These complaints found went time and again in these columns. We had repeatedly to invite the attention of the higher authorities to the sad state of things, and representation signed by a large body of respectable citizens of all classes was also sent to the Agent, North-Western Railway. The correspondence published elsewhere bring out clearly what has actually been done by the higher authorities, and how much more yet remains to be done to remove the just and keenly felt grievance of the people of Amritsar.
