Train’s engine catches fire in Gurgaon

  • The engine of a Rewari-bound passenger train caught fire at Garhi Harsaru village on Thursday
  • The train was coming from Delhi
  • Around 3:30 pm, passengers and the driver noticed smoke coming out from the engine
  • The driver initially tried to douse the fire, but later called the Gurgaon railway station
  • Officials reached the spot along with fire tenders
  • Many panic-stricken passengers jumped out of bogies
  • There were no casualties: "We are inquiring the reason behind the fire. Prima facia it appears to be case of short circuit," read a statement issued by the Gurgaon railway officials.
