Trucker dies in Def Colony accident

New Delhi, March 22

The driver of a truck was killed here in the wee hours today when his vehicle was hit by another truck whose driver had allegedly dozed off at the wheel, police said.

According to police, the accident occurred in south Delhi's Defence Colony area when a truck coming from the Dhaula Kuan side breached the median divider and crossed to the other side after its driver, identified as Shivendra Pandey, fell asleep while driving.
Pandey's truck collided with another truck, being driven by one Sajjan Kumar Mishra, which was moving on the other carriageway near Andrews Ganj.
Pandey was arrested from the spot after the accident was reported to police at 3 A.M. His truck had Haryana registration plates.—PTI
