Almost two months after mining mafia henchmen allegedly attacked General Manager (Mining) Tehal Singh Sekhon, who was later “thrashed” by an SHO at a police station, no action has been taken against the attackers or the erring Station House Officer (SHO) so far.

A separate probe ordered by the government also failed to take off owing to some “technical glitches”.

Even worst is the fact that the allegations by the mining officer are being verified by the same SHO whom he had accused of being hand in glove with the mafia.

Sekhon had alleged that mining was rampant in the area at the behest of Ghanaur Congress MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur. The latter has refuted the allegations.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit said the probe got delayed as the witnesses had refused to cooperate. “Now I have ordered the Rajpura SDM to start the probe as I have been told that the witnesses are ready to depose,” he stated.

He said action would be taken against anyone found guilty in the case. “We cannot take action merely on the basis of allegations. Let the probe report come,” he added.
