Uttarakhand, with nearly 150-member strong contingent, is all set to attend the 17th National Jamboree of The Bharat Scouts and Guides, slated to take place in Mysuru, Karnataka, from December 29 to January 4.
The first Jamboore took place in Hyderabad way back in 1953. The present Jamboree has the theme – ‘Together for Better Tomorrow’.
Uttarakhand State Headquarters Commissioner, The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Rajeev Sharma, who is also part of the Uttarakhand contingent, said it is the dream of every scout to attend the national jamboree. The importance of the event can be gauged from the fact that President Pranab Mukherjee would inaugurate the jamboree, that will also witness the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
There is also a long list of dignitaries attending the event. These include Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar, Union Minister of State for Sports Vijay Goel and Maharani of Mysuru Pramoda Devi Wodeyar. Chief National Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides BI Nagarale and Karnataka State Chief Commissioner PGR Sindhia will be some of prominent Bharat Scout and Guides members who will be participating in the Jamboree.
Rajeev Sharma said the activities slated to take place in Jamboree include service-oriented activities, global village development integration and fun-based programmes.
