Dehradun, April 6
As many as 1.5 lakh saplings will be planted along banks of Rispana river in a single day in capital Dehradun during monsoon.
This was disclosed at a high level Rispana river rejuvenation meeting held in Dehradun on Friday.
Presiding over the meeting, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh held that Forest Department, Eco-Task Force, Irrigation Department along with the residents would be part of the plantation drive, which will be carried out in a single day in the month of July.
He apprised that digging of pits for planting saplings would start from May 5.
This digging work will be started from Shikhar Fall, the source of Rispana river in Dehradun and will be done all along the banks of the river.
Among the saplings to be planted, 50,000 will be of fruit trees.
Dehradun District Magistrate SA Murugeshan, Conservator of Forest PK Patro and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
